Connecting remotely for a milestone event at Lincoln University

On Friday 27th May, Te Whare Wānaka o Aoraki Lincoln University formerly renamed its former Commerce building in honour of Emeritus Professor Bruce Ross and Mrs Gill Ross. Tandem was brought in as a media partner to Lincoln University to help live stream this event, as last minute changes meant the Professor and his family couldn’t travel down to Christchurch to attend in person.

Bringing people together virtually is something we’ve been doing since before the pandemic started, but the technology and expertise available to make this happen smoothly are only getting better. Our solution was to partner with the amazing team at Insight Audio Visual with the help of the great team at Doc in Wellington to connect the team at Lincoln University giving the presentation from a lecture theatre and the Professor and his family in Wellington so they could also be a part of the event even though they couldn’t attend in person.

Part of the solution was to make it as seamless as possible for the Lincoln Uni team (even though this all happened within a week of event day!) and as easy as possible for the Professor and his family to join in on event day. All crew worked behind the scenes to figure out the various elements that needed pulling together, and after a few pre-production meetings, site visits and testing sessions, it all went off without a hitch.

The event was a wonderful recognition of the dedication Professor Ross and his wife have given to Lincoln University over the years, and it was a great experience to be able to help connect everyone together for a milestone event.

Unfortunately we can’t show you the event as it’s being held internally by the Lincoln Uni team for now, but here’s a few snaps of our team setting up, along with a yummy reward of scones and cream for a job well done afterwards!
